Business Process Management: Online Course with Internship Agreement

The Business Process Management course shows you how to map processes in BPMN 2.0, discover the real as-is process through interviews, workshops and event logs, and analyse it with process mining. You also learn to find bottlenecks, redesign processes and judge when RPA or AI agents are worth using. It is aimed at aspiring process analysts. Study 100 % online for 180 days. An internship agreement is included. €200.

  • 180 days of access
  • 100 % online, at your own pace
  • Level: beginner · No prior BPM experience required
  • Assessment: 10 quizzes (50 questions) and a final project
  • Internship agreement included
  • Certificate with a verifiable QR code
  • Languages: Spanish, English, French
  • Price: €200

Who it is for

  • Graduates and career changers aiming for junior process analyst or process improvement roles
  • Operations, finance or administration staff who want to map and improve the processes they work in
  • Professionals preparing to work with process mining or RPA tools such as Celonis or UiPath
  • Anyone who needs to read, draw or challenge BPMN diagrams at work

What do you need to start?

Prior knowledge

  • No prior knowledge of BPM, process modelling or process mining is needed
  • Comfort with simple arithmetic for cycle-time, cost and payback calculations
  • Ability to read short business case descriptions in English

Software and equipment

  • A computer with an internet connection
  • Optional for practice: Apromore, an open-source process mining platform
  • Optional for practice: the free, downloadable BPI Challenge event logs
  • Celonis, SAP Signavio, UiPath and Power Automate are explained; core exercises use small logs worked by hand

What you'll be able to do

  • Read and draw BPMN 2.0 diagrams with events, tasks, exclusive and parallel gateways, pools and lanes
  • Model exceptions with boundary events, compensation handlers, sub-processes and choreography diagrams
  • Plan interviews and workshops that bring out the real as-is process, not the official version
  • Build a frequency-weighted process map from a small event log and judge whether to trust it
  • Interpret conformance-checking fitness scores and deviations, and explain object-centric process mining
  • Rank root causes with a fishbone diagram and Pareto-based issue register, and calculate bottlenecks
  • Assess RPA candidates with a four-factor checklist and calculate savings and payback period
  • Judge whether an agentic monitoring setup keeps human governance and an audit trail

Skills you will practise

  • BPMN 2.0
  • Process discovery
  • Process mining
  • Conformance checking
  • Object-centric process mining
  • Root-cause analysis
  • Bottleneck analysis
  • RPA (UiPath, Power Automate)
  • Agentic process mining
  • Celonis, SAP Signavio, Apromore

Internship agreement

With this course, an intern could support a process improvement, operations or finance team by mapping current processes in BPMN, interviewing staff or preparing workshops, and documenting the as-is process. Other possible tasks include preparing event logs for process mining, building an issue register or bottleneck analysis, and screening repetitive tasks against an RPA checklist.

The internship can run at the same time as the course, within the 180 days of access.

Frequently asked questions

What job does the Business Process Management course prepare me for, and does it replace a vendor certification?

The Business Process Management course is aimed at entry-level roles such as Junior Process Analyst, Business Process Associate or Process Improvement Analyst. It covers modelling, discovery, process mining, redesign and automation. It does not replace vendor certifications such as UiPath's. Module 10 explains how those certification tracks work and notes that their names, formats and prerequisites change, so check the vendor's current requirements before you register.

Which tools and standards does the course actually cover?

The modelling notation is BPMN 2.0, from basic gateways and lanes to boundary events, compensation and choreography diagrams. On process mining, the course covers conformance checking and object-centric mining, and places Celonis, SAP Signavio, ARIS, Pega, UiPath, Apromore and ABBYY Timeline in the tool landscape. For automation, it compares UiPath with Power Automate. It also covers generative AI and agentic process mining.

What could I do during the internship, and who finds the company?

You find the host company yourself. The school then issues the internship agreement and its annex, which the company signs electronically, usually within one or two working days. Possible tasks include drawing BPMN diagrams of current processes, running discovery interviews, cleaning event logs for analysis, ranking problems in an issue register, calculating bottlenecks and assessing which repetitive tasks are suitable for RPA.

Will RPA and AI agents make process analysts unnecessary?

The course argues that they will not. An RPA bot has no discovery capability: it runs a fixed procedure, and automating a broken process simply produces the same errors faster. Agentic process mining can flag deviations and trigger corrective steps, but a named person still has to handle false positives, keep the audit trail and decide what happens next. Finding and redesigning the process remains the analyst's job.
