Who it is for
- Office and business staff who use, buy or evaluate AI tools at work
- Students and career changers preparing for an internship in a company adopting AI
- Team members asked to draft AI business cases, policies or tool inventories
- Anyone who needs AI literacy for the workplace under the EU AI Act
What do you need to start?
Prior knowledge
- No prior knowledge of AI, programming or mathematics is needed
- Comfortable reading business documents and working with everyday office software
- Basic arithmetic, for weighted sums and simple business-case calculations
Software and equipment
- A computer with an internet connection
- A free consumer AI chatbot is enough for the hands-on exercises, including trying RAG over your own PDFs
- No corporate or enterprise AI licence is needed
What you'll be able to do
- Classify a business AI use case as supervised, unsupervised or reinforcement learning
- Challenge an AI proposal by asking where labels come from and how accuracy was measured
- Place any AI product on the timeline from hand-written rules to transformer-based foundation models
- Check AI-generated text item by item, tracing supplied facts to primary sources
- Rewrite a weak prompt using role, context, task, format and safeguards
- Decide whether a business situation calls for RAG, fine-tuning or both
- List governance questions for an AI vendor, from EU data residency to exit terms
- Classify AI systems on the EU AI Act risk pyramid and name deployer duties
Skills you will practise
- Supervised vs unsupervised learning
- Generative AI and LLMs
- Hallucination checking
- Prompt engineering
- RAG
- Semantic search
- AI agents
- Multimodal AI
- EU AI Act
- GDPR and AI
Syllabus
- AI Foundations for Business — How machines learn from data, the three learning styles, how a perceptron decides, and why accuracy must be measured on unseen data.
- From Deep Blue to ChatGPT: the Transformer Revolution — The history of AI from hand-written rules to learning from data and transformers, and what self-attention computes in plain words.
- Generative AI and LLMs: Capabilities, Limits, Hallucinations — Why language models invent facts, sound confident when wrong, agree too readily, and what must never go into a public chatbot.
- AI-Powered Productivity and Prompt Engineering for Business — Enterprise AI tools, building professional prompts, verifying answers, and preparing an honest business case for AI licences.
- Enterprise AI: RAG and Private Knowledge Bases — How retrieval-augmented generation answers from company documents with citations, its limits, semantic search, and vendor governance questions.
- AI Agents and Business Process Automation — How AI agents work through queues such as expense claims, handling predictable cases and passing tricky ones to people.
- Multimodal AI: Documents, Images and Audio at Work — Using AI on scanned invoices, photographs, meeting recordings and phone calls, not just tidy text in databases.
- EU AI Act, Governance and Responsible AI — The risk pyramid, provider and deployer duties, application calendar, penalties, enforcement bodies, GDPR overlap and the Article 4 AI-literacy duty.
Internship agreement
With this course, an intern could help a department build an inventory of the AI tools it uses and classify them under the EU AI Act, or draft prompt templates and usage guidelines for office tasks. Other possible tasks include checking AI-generated reports against sources, preparing a simple business case for AI licences, or mapping a routine process, such as expense-claim handling, that an AI agent could support.
The internship can run at the same time as the course, within the 180 days of access.
Frequently asked questions
What role does the Artificial Intelligence course prepare me for?
The Artificial Intelligence course prepares you to be the person in a business team who understands how AI tools work and how to use them responsibly. You learn to evaluate supplier claims, write and check prompts, judge when RAG or an AI agent fits a task, and classify systems under the EU AI Act. It also covers the AI-literacy duty that Article 4 of the Act places on organisations using AI.
Do I need to be a programmer or a data scientist to work with AI in a company?
No. The course shows that for most business purposes the algorithms are a commodity; the value lies in judgement. That means knowing where training labels come from, whether accuracy was measured on unseen data, what to verify in AI output and which data must never be pasted into a public chatbot. You do not need a corporate licence either: consumer tools are enough to practise, including RAG over your own PDFs.
Which technologies, laws and methods does the course cover?
The course covers supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, perceptrons, transformers and self-attention, large language models, hallucinations and sycophancy, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search and fine-tuning. It also covers AI agents, multimodal AI for documents, images and audio, and the EU AI Act: the risk pyramid, provider and deployer duties, the application calendar, penalties, enforcement by the AI Office and national authorities, and its overlap with GDPR.
What could I do during the internship, and who finds the company?
You find the host company yourself; the school issues the internship agreement and its annex, which the company signs electronically, usually within one to two working days. Possible tasks include listing a department's AI tools and their EU AI Act risk level, writing prompt templates for office work, fact-checking AI-generated reports, or describing a repetitive process, such as handling expense claims, that an AI agent could support.
